New Senate Legislation Places Auto No-Fault Under Attack!

Thursday, March 31, 2011
Michigan's no-fault insurance system has been the model for the nation for the past 20 years. It is the only policy in the nation that guarantees accident victims will be covered for as long as the injury exists. Accident victims in Michigan do not have to worry about going bankrupt just to pay their medical bills or turning to taxpayers and the government for Medicaid.

Unfortunately, it's this guarantee -- full, lifetime coverage for auto accident injuries -- that has placed our auto insurance system under attack by insurance companies. Recently, the insurance industry introduced a series of bills in the Michigan Senate that would completely undo our 30-year-old auto insurance system.

Michigan auto insurance expert Steven Gursten provides a great overview of the legislation and the underhanded arguments made by the insurance industry.  Please check out his blog and then contact your legislators and tell them to leave our auto insurance alone!

  • “Michigan is fortunate to have a healthy auto insurance market where competition, safer cars and company fraud fighting efforts have resulted in lower costs for policyholders…”
